Not many people have a picture of their child like this one. If you didn't know, we did In Vitro Fertilization to get pregnant with Matthew. This picture is day 3 of the sperm and egg meeting and was given to us right before the embryos were transferred inside of me. The whole process of IVF definitely isn't an easy one but the transfer of the embryos was very neat. We got to see the embryos (they put 2 inside of me) on a big screen in the room and got to watch the doctor transfer them to the instrument used to put them in my uterus. Then on the screen we got to watch through an ultrasound as the embryos were transferred inside of me. We were then given a picture of our fist ultrasound with the embryos inside but not yet implanted. At this point there is no guarantee of a pregnancy though. Luckily we were very blessed and 12 days later we found out that I was pregnant and Matthew is the miracle that resulted. We have 9 healthy embryos left as a result of doing IVF. They are cryopreserved (froze) at Seattle Reproductive Medicine and when we decide to have another child we will go through the process again. Although our children will be born years apart, they will have been conceived on the same day, April 1st, 2007.
