June 6th I traveled to Deadwood along with a good number of family members. We were there to participate in the Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon on the 7th. We had a relay team and even though the weather was terrible (40 degrees and rainy), we had a great time. I had the first leg which was 8.4 miles and I ran it in 1 hour 9 minutes. Being from a small town of course we made the paper. What follows is from the article that appeared:

Running for a cure for MS
June 7, Maureen Harbac and her two neices, Gina Phillips and Jodie O'Donnell, and great-niece, Abigail Tunby, participated in the Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon in Deadwood, SD. Their team, "The Irish Wenches", competed in the relay race.
In the 26.2 miles of the trail covered, Gina ran leg one: 8.4 miles; Jodie ran leg two: 5.2 miles; Maureen ran leg three: 4.4 miles, and leg four: 4.0 miles; Abigail ran leg five: 4.2 miles. Gina and Jodie joined Abigail with 1.5 miles to go and they all finished the race in the middle of Deadwood. Maureen and Kathy Sikorski walked the last 1.5 miles across the finish line.
The "Wenches" decided that rather than just run for the fun running, they would look for a worthwhile cause to support. In honor of Mauvee O'Donnell (aunt, mother-in-law or sister-in-law to all the runners), their late aunt Eleva Siring (youngest sister of Verna O'Donnell) and friends whose lives are touched by MS, that became the cause. They set out to raise money be getting donations and sponsors. All the money they raised went directly to MS research.
Maureen is a veteran marathon racer and Gina has competed in races for several years, but this was the first race for Jodie and Abby.
In the tradition of large families, they had a large support team to cheer them on at each relay exchange . The support team consisted of Greg Harbac, Kathy Sikorski, Amanda Tunby, Casey O'Donnell, Tanner and Riley, Pat and Tammy O'Donnell, Ashlee Moore, Jordan O'Donnell and Matthew Phillips.
