National Heart Month 10K

On Valentine's Day Ken, Sarah and me participated in a 5K (3.1 miles)/10K (6.2 miles) run to help raise money for the American Heart Association. Ken had made it home from Iraq on the 13th, surprising me by getting home a day early! I had already lined out someone to watch Matthew so I talked him into doing the 10K run with me. It was a very windy day and the temperature was about 35 but once we got running it was great. I got my best time yet running it in 48 minutes and 57 seconds, coming in 2nd in my age group. Ken also did great coming in 3rd in his age group. I was really glad I'd talked Sarah into running, she ran the 5K in 28 minutes and some change, getting 1st in her age group. I've never trained for a race, I just try to stay in good enough shape to be able to go and race when I want to. One of these days I'm going to do proper training and see how well I'll be able to do. I'm a competitive person so running in races gives me something to work for. I love it!
