Yesterday was a very sad day for the Phillips family. Ken's grandpa Brad passed away. He was 92 years old and lived a full and happy life. We were about 20 minutes from having to drop Ken off and say goodbye when Ken's dad called him on Saturday to say Grandpa Brad wasn't doing good and they saw that the end was near. The timing of everything was very eerie but I'm so thankful Ken knew before leaving. Brad had been doing great but I think he just decided it was time to go and see what heaven was all about. We were lucky enough to see him last April, which was when he got to meet Matthew Bradley for the first time. That was when the photos were taken. We also got to spend time with him this past Christmas and we're so thankful for that.
Matthew and I are headed to Libby this weekend and will stay a week. He'll finally get to meet Ken's sister Lisa and one of his cousins, Latasha.
I'm so sad that I didn't get to spend more time with Ken after hearing the news. I know it also breaks his heart to not be here for the funeral. He grew up right down the road from Grandpa Brad and I know he was such an important part of Ken's life. I first met Brad 10 years ago and I think the best way to describe him would be to say he was full of spunk. He stayed that way until the day he passed. Brad will be cremated and buried in Libby Monday, May 4th. Some of his ashes will be saved for Ken to take on a hike up the Cabinet Mountains in Libby and spread them next summer when he returns. I'm thankful that Ken will have him looking over him and helping to keep him safe this next year.
We love you and will miss you Grandpa Brad.
